A Brief Overview Of Carpet Cleaning Equipment
In 1869, the first carpet-cleaning machine was introduced to the public. Ives Mcgaffey invented it and termed it the "sweeping machine." Hubert Cecil Booth, who had a British patent for carpet-cleaning machines, came out with a pretty large horse-drawn, gas-driven machine not long after that, in 1901. This was frequently seen parked outside of cleaning establishments, with the hose being pushed through the windows of the building to the carpet to be cleaned. The machines were eventually made smaller and easier to use. Moving these massive devices from one firm to another would necessitate an entire army of employees.
Invented by James Murray Spangler in 1907, the first portable carpet-cleaning machine was introduced. He discovered he was becoming ill as a result of the sweeping machine and set about resolving the issue of dirt and dust being reintroduced into the air. He was the first to employ a cotton filter with cleaning attachments. In 1908, he received a patent for his "portable electric vacuum" and sold it to William H. Hoover, a man we've all heard of. Hoover® carpet cleaners are still one of the most popular brands on the market; at one point or another, every home possessed a Hoover
the Air-Way Sanitizer introduced the first disposable bag "filter fiber" in 1920. This was probably one of the most useful features of the carpet cleaning machines that were ever devised. Bissell is another well-known brand name in every household. In Michigan, Anna Bissell and her husband Melville had a crockery store. Melville has terrible allergies to sawdust, therefore Anna worked tirelessly to make the establishment dust-free for him. Melville went on to invent the first carpet sweeper, which he patented in 1876. He went on to invent carpet-cleaning machines that used a combination of detergent and water to clean carpets. In the early 1950s, these carpet-cleaning devices were introduced. Bissell products are now available in over 60 countries.
Carpet cleaning devices have come a long way since the days of horse-drawn, gas-powered cleaners. Carpet cleaner machines are now available that are small enough to fit in a pocket. No home is complete without a vacuum or sweeper, and for those stubborn stains, consumers are turning to the ever-popular carpet steam cleaners.
